Follow these steps to add tips or gratuities to an order in the POS system:
1. Enable Tip Option in pospointe Settings
- To enable the tip option, go to Settings in the POS Pointe portal.
- Click on Payment Processing
- You will see an option to Turn on Tip. Simply tick the box to enable the tip functionality for credit card transactions.
2. Complete the Payment
- After the customer selects their items, proceed to the Pay screen by clicking on the Pay option.
3. Tip Prompt on the Credit Card Machine
- Once the payment method (credit card) is selected, the tip option will appear on the credit card terminal.
- The customer can then choose a tip amount from the available options (e.g., 10%, 15%, 20%) or enter a custom tip amount.
4. Select the Tip Amount
- The customer can either:
- Choose from the preset tip percentages.
- Enter a custom tip amount by selecting the Custom option and typing the desired tip.
5. Add the Tip
- After selecting the tip, the terminal will automatically add the tip to the total payment.
- The customer can confirm the total amount and proceed with payment.
6. Process the Payment
- Complete the payment by tapping or swiping the customer’s card.
- The tip will be included in the total charge.
7. Receipt
- The final receipt will show both the original order amount and the tip added to the transaction.
This process allows you to handle tips seamlessly through the credit card terminal and include them in the final payment.
