Processing a Refund
To process a refund for a customer, follow these steps:
- Locate the Original Payment
- After the payment, you can locate the transaction by searching by the invoice ID or the last 4 digits of the customer’s credit card number in the “Recall Old Invoice” section in POS system.
- Confirm the Payment
- Once you’ve located the transaction, confirm the payment details.
- Select the Refund Option
- After confirming the payment, click the ‘B Return’ option to initiate the refund process.
- Enter the Refund Amount
- Enter the refund amount without taxes. The system will automatically show the refund amount with a deduction (e.g., -$20) as an example, based on your settings or the chargeback rules.
- Process the Refund
- Click the ‘Pay’ option to proceed. Select ‘Card Payment’ as the payment method for the refund.
- Complete the Refund
- Ask the customer to tap their credit card on the terminal. The refund will be processed and credited back to the original payment method.
- Issue a Refund Receipt
- Once the refund is successfully processed, provide the customer with a receipt.
